Write what you know is too vague. Write what we all know - sex, violence, death, jealousy, lies. Couldn’t care less where it’s set.

What I want from research is “This is what I want to do, you tell me how to do it,” because if it’s the other way round, if the expert’s telling me what to do, then it’s “Well you go and write the script then, I’ll go and get a job.
